The toolset has to fulfill a set of functions:
- conversion of geographic data to scenery files (TerraGear),
- management and manipulation of geographic data, e.g., reprojection, spatial and feature selection (PostGIS, GDAL/OGR),
- manual editing of geographic data (GRASS, QGIS, TaxiDraw), and
- automatic processing and preparation of geographic data, e.g., automatic classification of satellite imagery (GRASS).
One of the major technical tasks in the project is to integrate all these tools so that they can form a toolchain for scenery processing.
